Archives and research in crisis areas

RePaZ focuses on material heritage, which constitutes a special case: in art history and archaeology, access to research in the field is closely related to complex political and institutional challenges, whether these be archaeological missions or access permissions to specific sites or collections.

RePaZ seeks to reflect on methodological and epistemological developments specific to the study of cultural heritage in crisis zones. This includes theorizing remote research practices by taking into account legal, ethical, and scientific dimensions.

Particular attention is paid to photographic and archaeological archives, often little-exploited, but which today constitute an essential vector for renewing research on areas that are otherwise difficult to access.
